Architecture has been on an inspiring study trip to Berlin. The trip began with a stop at the Molfsee Open Air Museum near Kiel, where we had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in local North German building customs – and at the same time enjoy a well-deserved rest under the open sky.
In Berlin, the days were filled with professional experiences and architectural impressions. We started with a city walk in Kreuzberg, where we visited a number of striking and significant works based on a major subject assignment. Among the highlights were the Jewish Museum, König Galerie, Kreuzberg Tower and Aldo Rossi Haus.
We gained a special insight into sustainable construction at the Floating Campus at Tempelhof – an experimentarium for recreational architecture and wastewater management, created by Raumlabor, and today used by both university students and kindergarten children.
We rounded off the trip with a visit to the Boros Art Collection and a study visit to the B+ design studio, where we gained insight into how buildings of the past can be radically transformed for new purposes.
